Reactions on the PES 2009 demo

So far we’ve been playing the Xbox 360 version, and most of us are pleased and impressed with this years offering of Pro Evolution Soccer.

Here are our positive and negative thoughts and points about the new edition of PES, in no particular order:

* The players feel heavier, sturdier, more realistic, but slightly more sluggish.
* The ball feels heavier, and does not fly around the pitch as fast as it did in PES 2009.
* If you bump into the referee, on or off the ball, he still knocks you down to the floor, or makes you tumble.
* Attacking players still get into very offside positions.
* The slide tackles still feel good, but the ref does not always spot a good tackle and you can get booked for a decent, fair challenge.
* If you shoot and it gets blocked by a players hand/arm, this is recognised and a free-kick will be given.
* The replays are much smoother than 2008, and keep your settings from the last time you have viewed a replay (camera angle etc).
* You can view a replay after whistle has been blown, so if you shoot, miss, and then a goal kick is taken, you can then go and view the replay from the missed shot. This has not been possible in the past.
* Going from the end of the first half to the beginning of the second half is very quick, in fact just two button presses.
* Individual players have a lot more characteristic animation than before, for example Ferdinand passes exactly like he does in real life, Rooney runs exactly like he runs.
* Player collision has more animation before, it looks really realistic when two player shoulder barge or crash into each other.
* Lots more player animation overall, the game looks a lot more next-gen and realistic because of it.
* CPU controlled players call for the ball both through audio and visual prompts.

PES 2009 PC Demo impression

I like PES 2008 more.

In PES 2009 there are bad changes in gameplay, seems now to be unfortunally like FIFA in gameplay…

- gameplay is changed, i can see that. The way player turn instantly to the left or right is not real. Is bad…
- the referee whistle is irritating.
- gamepad is changed, stupid. now trick to turn around is not working. is a pass now.
- when you score a goal, well, the ball is going out the net and enter the field… is not so cool… not realistic again. The ball is staying in the net if is coming behind the sand bags.
- nothing changed when the ball is out. You cannot still be close to the other…
- better graphic? I do not think so. Ugly stadium in demo. And no support for higher resolutions, no 1680×1050 or more.
- scoreboard is changed. Time in the left, and Teams on the right of the screen.
- I bet that lag will be again online, because I see sometimes a strange speed in game.
- when player run faster is not as fast in pes 2008… Is much slower.
- good thing is that player get up fast when he goes down, intercepted, faulted…

Anyway after a few hours of playing I started to like it… again :)

Anything to say? Write a comment.

PES Demo out in 02 October !

Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH has announced the availability of a playable demo of its forthcoming PES 2009 title for PLAYSTATIONR3, Xbox 360 and PC on 2nd October.

Due for release on 17th October, PES 2009 marks the triumphant return of what is regarded as the most realistic football title for any format. Users will be treated to an expansive playable demo of the new title, with the bespoke version offering a full five-minute Exhibition multiplayer match.

Players will be able to select fully licensed Manchester United, Liverpool, Real Madrid, and Barcelona club teams, or the licensed Italian or French national sides. The demo will allow users an early taste of the all-new elements set to further bolster PES 2009′s reputation as the definitive football game. All new visuals with completely remodeled players and animations, and new physics routines to ensure the ball behaves more realistically have been included, while the AI of the CPU sides has been enhanced to provide an ever evolving challenge.

The PES 2009 demo will also include promotional videos detailing the new game’s ‘Become a Legend’ and online ‘Legends’ modes, which see the player controlling just one player within a team and attempting to forge a career in football. Starting as a promising 17-year-old, players must force their way into the first team and produce a series of blistering performances which will ultimately result to a move to one of Europe’s biggest sides. Or, on the flipside, poor performances can see a player struggling in the lower leagues and eventually being released.

The Dutch Eredivisie and French Ligue 1 will both be represented in their entirety, with full kits and player rosters.

Konami has today announced a number of additional licenses for PES 2009, the latest instalment in the hugely popular football video game series.

Following the recent announcement of Konami’s four-year agreement to feature the UEFA Champions League in PES titles, the publisher has today revealed a selection of additional licensed teams for use in the game. The Dutch Eredivisie and French Ligue 1 will both be represented in their entirety, with full kits, player rosters and affiliated elements.

Key clubs such as FC Barcelona, Real Madrid, Inter Milan, FC Porto, Liverpool and Manchester United will also be featured in official livery. Other teams on offer will include Zenit St. Petersbourg and Brondby IF. Konami has also included a number of additional national sides in PES 2009, with Northern Ireland joining the likes of England, Italy and Netherlands.

A selection of official stadiums will also available in PES 2009, including virtual recreations of the Stade de France, Stadio Olimpico di Torino and the new Wembley Stadium.

PES 2009 is scheduled for release on October 17 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. Versions for PS2, PSP and Wii are scheduled for release on October 30, November 6 and in 2009 respectively. A playable demo is also expected at some point over the next few weeks.

Manchester United warm up for PES 2009

Konami?s snaps up rights for European champions for PES 2009
Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH has announced that it has reached agreement to feature Manchester United in its forthcoming PES 2009 title. The current English and European Champions will appear fully licensed in all versions of the eagerly-awaited football title, which will be released for PLAYSTATION®3, Xbox 360, PC-DVD, PSP® (PLAYSTATION®PORTABLE), and PlayStation®2, in the Autumn. A Wii version is scheduled for release in Spring 2009.

PES 2009 is the latest installment of the award-winning Pro Evolution Soccer Series, and features a wide array of extensive new additions that will enhance the series’ reputation as the most realistic football game available. In addition to all new control elements, and player AI routines that elevate its gameplay to new levels, PES 2009 also enjoys a stunning graphical update. Its players look identical to their real-life counterparts, while new moves, and key online enhancements will further bolster the realism of the new game.

The inclusion of Manchester United within the game is another major step forward for the series’ realism. PES 2009 will feature the most detailed likenesses of the European Champions, and full use of the team’s kits and club crests. Similarly, PES 2009 also captures the unique skills of the Manchester side’s key players with the game’s recreations of Carlos Tevez, Rio Ferdinand, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Edwin van der Sar boasting bespoke animations to ensure they move like their real-life counterparts in addition to looking like them.

“Konami is continually striving to add key licences to the PES series, and the capture of the English game’s most successful club is another major step forward,” commented Jon Murphy, PES Team Leader for Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH. “The team has worked hard to recreate the skill and pace of Manchester United, and their fans will be delighted with the most realistic recreation of their squad in any video game.”

Query

OK, after a fairly successful trail last year, here’s your chance to ask any questions about PES 2009. We’ll put the best questions here providing we can answer them, so before you post asking ‘When is it coming out?’ or any other stupid questions, please check this first. Cheers!

UPDATE 11/09: Following more announcements, here is some more updated info!

Q: When is PES 2009 coming out?
A: October 17th 2008 on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC DVD. PS2 and PSP will be follow at a date to be confirmed and the Wii version will be released in Spring 2009.

Q: I take it that it’s only coming out on ps3/X-box360/PC
A: Not at all. There will be Xbox 360, PLAYSTATION3, PS2, PC, Nintendo Wii and PSP versions as well as one for your mobile.

Q: Has Master League been improved or is it exactly the same as last year?
A: Yes, it has been improved. The menus are now more intuitive and the negotiations are now done on a two-tier basis. You negotiate on a team level and also on a personal level to make things much easier to use. Also, player loyalty is a lot more important. If a player is unhappy with the terms etc. they will not play as well. A happy player will play better.

Q: This might sound like a daft question but are all the nets the same just as they were in PES 2008?
A: No, they are different. We think they are much more satisfying this time, really stretch out when the ball hits. They have a much more ‘European’ feel to them now.

Q: Does the crowd still look like the people are made of cardboard or will it be more alive and realistic during the games?
A: In order to get a fully fledged working crowd would use up so much processing power of any machine, that it would render the gameplay virtually redundant, so it’s a case of weighing up what it more important. The crowd isn’t as one dimensional as previous games and you can see them rise when something happens in a replay for example, so there are improvements yes.

Q: Have the keepers been fixed? They, along with the game speed, ruined the game last time.
A: Yes, from what we have seen and also the comments we have read from those who know PES inside out, all agree that the goalkeepers are a lot better this year. They are much better and guiding the ball to safety or putting it out of play rather than parrying it back into the middle of the goal.

Q: Has the defensive AI actually been improved, so we don’t have a repeat of last year’s, ‘central defender’s parting like the red sea’, and letting the striker have a clear run at goal.
A: Again, much like the goalkeeper answer, from our own play and those of the PES experts, the situation seems to be more in favour of the defender. Also, in previous versions, once you passed the ball onto another player it automatically switched to the player receiving the ball even in a manual setting. Now the game has a true manual setting you will have to switch meaning you’ll have greater control over your teammates. Add to this the better AI for defenders plus increased difficulty when dribbling and you have a much more evenly balanced feel to defending.

Q: Has the game speed been slowed down this year? Last year’s speed was in all honesty, atrocious. If it is the same, or even close this time around, I don’t see myself playing the game.
A: Yes it has – this was one of the most requested bits of feedback we got from last year’s title and this one has been compared to the speed of PES 5, which seems to be the version preferred by a lot of PES fans.

popiOFpatch 1.0 – Updated

- The patch in its look and feel is assembled except of course that for file options that I have inherited from anyone but I have built with great care and attention. I think the original thing of this patch is that the fo was built entirely by the author, namely me, right from the start.

- All the Bundesliga instead of the other B, edit faces with the internal editor, values, skills and everything else.

- Then you understand that I am not a chart I am committed solely and exclusively on Relief to make it special, because I believe that changing the forms is the most difficult thing, and if not careful we risk rotrovarsi with the problems of last year. (I edited goalkeepers on goalkeepers and defenders on defenders, as well as for the attackers and midfielders and I have not overridden any player

So my only patch, as the title “popiOFpatch” is for “the heart of PES” for the rest thank all the other authors for having provided the forum for this wonderful material (logos, replays, kit and everything else) I used in my patch. Now put the credits. I apologize because certainly forget to mention someone and therefore you just need to have facades and penserò to include all claims.

- Gigimarulla chants
- Quangtri replay and more.
- Kada – kits of the teams except the development of the map that I have done myself.
- Marci_tm – champions league and UEFA Cup titles in masterleague (I have a mandate to adjust mp logos but I was not even answered).

Council this patch to anyone who wants an orderly and perfect forms, who is scrupulous as me.
the patch does not contain added sadly sides in the Bundesliga already know you lose too much time with the fo. If the patch will find satisfaction and if someone help me with the graphics could be improved in every respect.
The last 2 teams in other leagues are united pes and even if we have other logos. So if anyone would help me solve this will thank him with claims in the patch.
A little interested me the graphics engine everything is the option file: Believe me.

You need patch 1.20 official from KONAMI too.
