USB Controller

ok i have a problem.. i insert my usb controller and theres a red analog light on the controller so i know the my laptop "capture" the existence of this controller...

but, when i play the game.. i cant use my controller.. using the keyboard is fine.. i tried to play a freindly game.. during the game i press esc and i go to select sides, theres actually another controller ( yellow colour ) when i slide the yellow controller to my team, im able to use the copntroller..

at the main menu i go to system settings and controller settings.. i can see theres 2.. controller 1 and controller 3.. controller 3 when i select i can use my usb controller to change the button configurations, only that.. when im done.. i can only change back to controller 1 which is the keyboard to get to other options..
