Isn't about time Ubisoft had a footie videogame to rival FIFA and Pro Evo? Pure Football is out in May, formats to be announced. The over-the-shoulder camera places the gamer in the heart of Pure Football's five-a-side football action, as opposed to the feeling of watching a TV broadcast. Gamers will have the opportunity to create their own customized athlete who can progress through the campaign mode. Up to four people can also play multiplayer locally and 1vs1 matches are supported online. Developed by Ubisoft Vancouver, Pure Football will include 230 "elite" footballers, 17 international teams and 17 "legendary" players.

From inital trailers, the game looks more like a FIFA Street competitor than a genuine football title, and features over animated sprites coupled with a 5 a side setting. The crop of 270 players representing a quite measely 17 national teams (thats 15.8 players per team) is hardly on the same level as the berth provided by FIFA’s upcoming World Cup title, however the more casual set up and a seeming ephasis on pick up and play may be welcomed into the market by some football gaming fans.
