Monumental David Arellano – Chile. The Estadio Monumental David Arellano is a football stadium in Santiago, Chile. Built in 1989 the stadium has a current spectator capacity of 45,000. Originally, the stadium could hold up to 65,000 spectators but was dramatically reduced for security reasons. The highest ever recorded attendance was 69,305 spectators which occurred in 1992 in a match featuring Chilean rivals Colo-Colo and Universidad de Chile. The stadium was also home to the 1991 Copa Libertadores final won by Colo-Colo. Its principal tenant and owner is the corporate entity Blanco y Negro that runs Colo-Colo and for which Chilean billionaire and President Sebastián Piñera is a major shareholder. The stadium is also rented out to club Santiago Morning and other Chilean teams that require holding games on the international tournament scale. Also, has been used by Chile national football team when main football stadium of the country, Estadio Nacional, is unavailable.
